• Confirm your NYC building's move-in policy (COI, elevator reservation, freight hours)
• Reserve your NYC building's freight elevator — most buildings require a written request

• Request a Certificate of Insurance (COI) — most NYC buildings require one

1 week before

• Confirm parking on both ends — NYC often requires temporary no-parking signs
• Print your COI and email a copy to both buildings
• Consolidate boxes near the door on the NJ side to speed loading

Day of the move

• Have cash or Venmo ready for tips (15–20% is standard)
• Route through the Holland or Lincoln Tunnel — factor $17+ in tolls
• Do not schedule a Manhattan move for Friday afternoon unless you enjoy pain
