How to Move Heavy Items Safely in Allentown, PA

Moving oversized specialty items like upright pianos, heavy gun safes, and slate pool tables in Allentown, PA requires specialized equipment, strategic planning, and adequate manpower.

Equipment Needed for Moving Heavy Items in Allentown

Attempting to relocate heavy items without the proper gear dramatically increases the risk of property damage and personal injury.

• Heavy-duty 4-wheel furniture dollies rated for 1,000+ lbs
• Appliance dollies with safety straps and stair-climbing treads
• Thick moving blankets, neoprene floor runners, and shrink wrap
• Forearm lifting straps and shoulder harnesses for tight stairwells

Moving Upright Pianos and Heavy Safes

Upright pianos weigh between 300 and 800 pounds, while gun safes regularly exceed 500 to 1,000 pounds. Weight must remain evenly distributed during every stage of the move.

Always measure doorways, hallways, and stairwells along the route before lifting. Secure safe doors and piano key lids completely to prevent sudden shifts during transit.

Disassembling and Transporting Pool Tables

Slate pool tables should never be moved in one piece. Disassemble the outer frame, unbolt the heavy slate sections, and wrap each slab individually in thick padded blankets.

Label all hardware clearly in sealable bags to ensure accurate reassembly at your destination in Lehigh County.

How Many Movers Do You Need for Heavy Lifting?

While a two-person crew can manage small safes under 300 lbs, heavy upright pianos and 8-foot slate pool tables usually require three to four experienced movers to handle incline angles and staircases safely.
